The Norse ruled Dublin from 841 to 999 and the inhabitants also lived through the Norman Invasion of Ireland from 1169 to 1172.In 1348 Dublin saw the plague that devastated the area, it returned again in 1649 wiping out some of the population residing there at the time.
When Guinness Brewery was founded in 1759 the economy of Dublin was impacted.  Guinness was the highest employment company in the area.
Dublin city center was destroyed during the Irish War, Anglo Irish War and Easter Rising.

When visiting Dublin you must visit some of the oldest landmarks the city has.  Dublin Castle is the oldest landmark in the city and Ha’Penny Bridge is the oldest iron footbridge which stands over the River Liffey. 

Other landmarks which should not be missed include the Anna Livia Monument, Molly Malone Statue, Christ Church Cathedral and St. Patricks Cathedral.  The Spire of Dublin is the newest landmark and has a stainless steel spire that stands 398ft into the air.  It is amazing at night when it lights up and well worth a visit.
While there are so many museums, theatres and landmarks to see in Dublin, sometimes it’s nice to just take a quiet leisurely walk around one of the beautifully landscaped parks that are available in this bustling city.  Spend the day at Phoenix Park, Herbert Park, St. Stephens Green or visit the Dublin Zoo.
