San Antonio, Texas Is a Cultural Wonderland

San Antonio was originally named Yanguana which means refreshing waters, but this was way back in 1691.  It was later approved as a halfway mission in 1716, where it became the largest Spanish and Mexican area of Texas.  The Battle of Alamo stretched from 23 February to 6 March 1836 seeing the Texas forces losing, but in 1845 Texas became a US state, which started the Mexican-American War, SeaWorld which the US won.

After the Civil War, San Antonio became known for its cattle industry and had its first railroad introduced in 1877.  Now this city is the second largest in Texas and the seventh largest in the US.

There is still a large military presence in San Antonio with the Lackland Air force Base, Randolph Air force, but this area known for its famous Tex-Mex cuisine has so much more to offer holiday makers.

Twenty six million tourist visit San Antonio every year to visit the Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme park, Morgan’s Wonderland and.
They also host the annual San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo which draws a large crowd from around the country.
