Wisconsin
Wisconsin is famous for its dairy farms, beautiful forests, prairies, cliffs, and 15,000 lakes. The state also has some big cities and touches two of the great lakes. Wisconsin is especially famous for its cheese, and it makes more cheese than any other state!
Wisconsin had many Native American tribes living in it before French and English traders began exploring the area. Eventually settlers came to Wisconsin to mine and in 1848 it had enough residents that the state joined the Union. Residents of Wisconsin have always wanted good education for their children and they opened up schools and universities all over the state. In 186 the first kindergarten in the country opened in Watertown. Wisconsin farmed wheat on its fertile ground for a long time, but eventually the soil's nutrients were depleted and the residents turned to raising cattle and dairy farming, which they still do today.
